Today’s quote comes from another guilty pleasure of mine “Hook”.
“Do you know that place between being asleep and awake, that’s where you still remember your dreams? That’s where I’ll always love, that’s where I’ll always wait for you.”

Today’s quote comes from “What a Girl Wants” thats always been a guilty pleasure film for me and I love this quote.
“Why are you trying so hard to fit in, when you were born to stand out?”
Today’s quote comes from Steel Magnolias and should really be a motto in life. Everyone wants something special, no matter how long you have it for.
“I would rather have 30 minutes of wonderful than a lifetime of nothing special.”
I love “My Best Friends Wedding” as you may already know I am a massive fan of Julia Roberts aka Jules in my world. Yet it is quite a strange film in terms of the ending really isnt what you would expect from Hollywood but is it more realistic? In my world yes it is. Its heartbreaking at times but thats life isn’t it. I have probably watched this film more times that people can actually imagine. Quite a few months ago I eventually got round to see “Made of Honor” which I had heard was like MBFW but the other way round. I however have to totally disagree with that and this post will end up in a rant that men always win no matter what the situation is.

Made and released more than 10 years apart really shows the direction in which romantic comedies aka rom-coms have come over the years. That direction is down. Don’t get me wrong some have been quite good like “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and “(500) Days of Summer”. But way exactly have I enjoyed these? They have more realistic moments in them and manage to connect to the audience in different ways. Especially (500) Days of Summer it is so realistic and good how throughout the film it reminds us it is not a love story it is a story about love, and showing how different your expectations are in comparison to what reality is.

This film is a British film about a school football team in Manchester and how if they get to the final of the school’s cup they get to play at Maine Road (Man City’s old ground now). The story follows Jimmy Grimble who loves City and football but lacks a lot of confidence and is constantly bullied by the other boys on the team. He becomes friends with an old woman who gives him “magic” boots.
Today’s quote comes from one of my favorite films featuring my favorite actor Jack Nicholson and this quote is direct from him . . .
“Its not true. Some have great stories, pretty stories that take place at lakes with boats and friends and noodle salad. Just no one in this car. But a lot of people, that’s their story. Good times, noodle salad. What makes it so hard is not that you had it bad, but your just that pissed so many others had it good.”
I was going to make a hundred ways you know your obsessed with movies when . . . but I decided not to put a number on it and see how many I could come up with. If you have anymore to add to the list leave a comment and they will be added. Lets see how many we can come up with!
To be continued as thats all I can think of right now.
Comment with your suggestions.
Today’s quote is a rather amusing exchange between Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton in Something’s Gotta Give. I wonder how many men think the truth has versions?
“I have never lied to you, I have always told you some version of the truth.”
“The truth doesn’t have versions, okay?”
The second Poster has been released for Miley Cyrus’ new film which is due out in the next couple of months. Nicholas Sparks wrote the screenplay/story for the film.

Pure what?
Yes that’s right pure HMV . . . a card which you use every time in store or online to collect points. But what can you buy with these points I hear you ask. Well you can buy things that money can’t buy you (well it probably could but not from HMV itself).
I have had my card for a few weeks now and just wish i’d had it for a long time now as I would have quite a lot of points built up. Today I went into HMV and came out with one DVD (yes I did say I was not going to buy any more DVDs until I watch the ones I already have, but I found a loop hole that I have already seen the film I bought, that being Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind). I also bought two books Up in the Air (because I loved the film so much) and Love Letters of Great Men and Women . . . because it said inspired by Sex and the City on the front. Yes I am way too obsessed with SATC, but hey it might regain my belief in love. Or it will make me resent it even more time will tell I guess.
Today we have a nice quote about love from Patch Adams.
“I love you without knowing how, why or even from where.”
The day eventually arrived and the nominations have now been released (I now know which films I have to watch before 7th March) and we can all start debating and creating our predictions on who is going to walk away with the golden statue come Oscar night.

We go back to 10 nominations for Best Picture and an animated film has been included in those 10, that being Up. Now that will cause a lot of debate because from what I have read people preferred Wall-E to Up. From my first look at the nominations the only suprise for myself is seeing District 9 in the Best Picture cateogry. Everything else is pretty much what was expected.
Best Picture
Avatar
The Blind Side
District 9
An Education
The Hurt Locker
Inglourious Basterds
Precious
A Serious Man
Up
Up in the Air
The awards which like to honour the worst films of the year! Yes its all just a bit of fun and to laugh at really. But the Razzie nominations were released last night, yes the day before the Oscar nominations are due out. Interesting as Sandra Bullock could end up as the best and worst actress of the year . . . you see what they have done there.
They even have worst movie, actor and actress of the decade awards to give out.
What do you make of the Razzies?
Check out the nominations
The nominations for this years Oscars are due to be announced in a couple of hours. Whilst looking around on the Academy Awards website I came across the poster for this years Oscars and a couple of pictures of Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin. I am now even more looking forward to the Oscars following my new found fandom for Alec Baldwin! I have always loved Steve Martin in the Father of the Bride films as my guilty pleasures. I think it should be a very good show and both of them as hosts really does add something for me in the build up. It is going to be totally different to Hugh Jackman last year but best to keep changing things around I reckon.

Today’s quote comes from Practical Magic, do you ever spin?
“Do you ever put your arms out and just spin, spin and spin? Well, that’s what love is like, everything inside of you to tell you to stop before you fall, but you just keep going.”
The 2010 Grammy Awards took place last night so I have spent some time this morning searching YouTube to see clips of some of the performances. Lady GaGa really blew everyone away with a compilation of some of her songs from the previous year. “Poker Face” “Bad Romance” and my favorite “Speechless” which involved Sir Elton John in a duet and they changed to “Your Song” in the middle then went back to singing Speechless. It really was just incredible she seems to get better each time you see her perform.
Other performances which I loved were my favorites Bon Jovi
who sung three songs including classic hit “Livin’ On A Prayer” which was voted for by the public for them to sing. Pink was brilliant singing “Glitter in the Air” and Taylor Swift done an incredible performance of Love Story and You Belong With Me.
I could not yet find the Michael Jackson tribute but hopefully will be able to watch that very soon.
Today’s quote is a rather amusing but possibly true? from My Best Friends Wedding.
“Its amazing the clarity that comes with psychotic jealously.”
